Principal/ Associate Highway Engineer

Our client,is currently seeking a Principal or Associate Highway Engineer to join their Local Government team in Gloucester on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the development of highway designs on multi-disciplinary projects through all stages of the project life cycle
• Ensuring projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements
• Mentoring and developing junior staff to support their professional growth
• Providing technical support to Project Managers, including planning, programming, and cost estimation
• Checking, certifying, and authorising designs, documents, approvals, and reports
• Managing a portfolio of varied multi-disciplinary projects
• Coordinating engineering and technician resources to deliver work packages
• Collaborating with clients, key stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery
• Supporting projects with site supervision and monitoring contractor compliance on an ad hoc basis

Job Requirements:

• Passion for design and innovative problem-solving in engineering
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in highway design
• Chartered Engineer status preferred, or working towards IEng or CEng status
• Experience in highway design on multi-disciplinary projects and/or drainage systems
• Knowledge of design codes such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, and TSRGD
• Proficiency in relevant software such as Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage, and/or PDS
• Experience in complying with Designers Duties under CDM regulations
